INTRODUCTION
Define History
Define history as the study of past events, particularly in human affairs. Discuss that just as cities, states or countries have a history, so do each of us. Share "The Story of Me" eBook (embedded above.) Have students pay attention to the order of events. Did I present the information in any particular order?
Explore Sources of History
Display copies of different forms of history, for example: a birth certificate, a journal,l report cards, awards, tickets to concerts or amusement parks and letters. Discuss what each piece of data tells about my history.
Gather Data
Students will use different forms of history to gather information to write their eBook.
They must use at least three sources from the list below. On each page of their eBook, students should identify the source where they retrieved the information.
ACTIVITY
“All About Me” eBook
Using the information students collected, they will begin to design and write their eBook using storyjumper. They will visit the page and create an account using their school email address. Before they begin, they can watch the tutorial.
They should include the following in their “All About Me” eBook.
COVER PAGE
FAMILY PAGE ~ a family tree outline
A FUN MEMORY-at least one paragraph long
MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT ~ at least one paragraph long
WHAT STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES ARE ~ list at least three of each
THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY~ list and explain why
WHAT I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP AND WHY ~ at least one paragraph
